Is there anything you, as a parent, can do that will make your children safer? Of course, the safety of your children is of foremost concern to you, but this doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for improvement. Every year there are many accidents involving children that could have been prevented.

What should you keep in mind? First, chemicals that are harmful should not be easily accessible. Keeping them behind a closed cabinet door is not enough, since a curious child can get into stuff he/she shouldn’t really quickly.

You should either lock them up or place them in a spot where your children can’t reach.

Electrical receptacles should be replaced with tamper resistant receptacles which they can’t insert objects into.

Show care that stairs and windows aren’t going to prove to be a fall risk by blocking them off. If you have a pool, make sure that your children never play in it unattended.
