Early in the 20th century, linoleum was a very popular flooring material, but since it wasn’t as durable as other materials, it fell into disuse for a long time. In recent years, however, it has once again become a common flooring material. On reason is that it is made from renewable sources, thus making it an eco-friendly flooring material. It also has a pretty low price point and doesn’t require a lot of maintenance to be kept in good shape and clean.

One of the reasons that linoleum isn’t durable is that it will start pitting when exposed to many common floor cleaning products that are acidic or alkaline. The floor is also susceptible to water damage, so when you clean it using water, make sure that you don’t leave any puddles behind.

The best choice for daily cleaning would just be a vacuum or a broom, but when you feel that a more thorough cleaning is needed, water with a small amount of all-purpose cleaner will suffice.
