Getting Access to Your Sewage (At Your Own Risk)

Your sewers might seem like a mysterious place that you can’t get access to… and why would you want to? If you end up having issues with a clog in your main sewage pipe, however, you might all of a sudden have a burning interest in how your sewage works. There is nothing like raw sewage backing up into your home to inspire interest.

Often problems with your main sewage pipe can be fixed from a sewer cleanout access. In warmer climates, you will find this outside of the home, while in colder climates it might be near a downstairs bathroom. Usually, they will have a cap with a square peg on it to allow the use of a specific tool for opening it up. Of course, most of us don’t have the needed tools for working on this, since you often will need to use a snake to clean out the sewage pipe and get things running again.
